Summary
The tower radar BorealScat2 collects time series of electromagnetic backscatter signatures of the nearby forest which will be used to investigate the relation to forest water dynamics including evapotranspiration. The C-band reflector is used as a calibration reference which assumes stable radar backscatter signal. In particular liquid water (mainly from wet snow etc) disturbes the backscatter signal and should be removed regularily. The date and time of the removal must be documented since the data collected during (and before) the removal may be impacted and will be flagged. This should be done in conjunction with the regular collection of precipitation performed in project 231 (https://www.safedeposit.se/projects/231).
